US Senator Paul injured in assault at home

State Police say that Sen. Rand Paul suffered a minor injury when 59-year-old man assaulted him at his Warren County home on Friday afternoon

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - A man has been arrested and charged with assaulting and injuring U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, authorities said Saturday.
Kentucky State Police said in a news release that Paul suffered a minor injury when 59-year-old Rene Boucher assaulted him at his Warren County home on Friday afternoon.
The release did not provide details of the assault or the nature of Paul's injury. In a statement, Paul spokeswoman Kelsey Cooper said the Republican senator is "fine." The statement said Paul was "blindsided" by the assault but she did not provide further details.
Boucher, of Bowling Green, is charged with fourth-degree assault with a minor injury, a misdemeanor. He is being held at Warren County's jail on $5,000 bond. An automated phone system at the jail did not provide access to lawyer information for Boucher.
Kentucky State Police Master Trooper Jeremy Hodges said he could not release details of the assault because of security issues. Hodges did say that Boucher is an acquaintance of Paul, an ophthalmologist who was elected to the Senate in 2010. It was not immediately clear how they knew each other.
Hodges said Boucher would have faced more serious charges if had he used a weapon or if Paul had been injured seriously.
"If he was using any type of a dangerous instrument, then it would have been a felony charge," Hodges said by telephone Saturday.

Mohammad Bin Zayed: UAE stands firmly with Saudi Arabia in facing challenges

ABU DHABI: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has reiterated that the UAE stands firmly and resolutely with Saudi Arabia in confronting all challenges targeting its security and stability.
He condemned in the strongest terms the firing of a ballistic missile towards the north of Riyadh by the Houthi rebels and their allies, which the Saudi Air Defence Forces successfully intercepted and destroyed without causing any injuries.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed said that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of UAE security, and that the hand of evil "will not undermine the resolve of our brothers in the Kingdom," stressing that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, is able to foil all forms of aggression and conspiracy against the Kingdom and the region as a whole.
He added that the attack proves once again the rightfulness of Operation Decisive Storm, under the leadership of the Kingdom, stressing his "absolute confidence in victory and the total elimination of any attempt to undermine our security and stability.
